JDF MHA Summer Battle Camp Ice

Dear Families,

JDF Minor Hockey is offering an opportunity for players from our neighboring associations to participate in a Summer Battle Camp. The focal point of this camp will be centred on physically competitive based drills designed to assist players with their abilities to operate in small areas on the ice. The focus will be on skills like puck protection, defending with proper stick positioning and body position, making offensive plays under pressure, defensive containment through body checking, winning puck battles, etc. Due to the physical component of this camp, it is important that players are ready, from a skill level perspective, to participate in drills that feature constant physical contact. This is not a skills camp that focuses on typical components of development such as skating, stick-handling, and shooting. JDF and the camp instructors reserve the right to remove players from the program if there is a concern for the safety of participants.

The camp will be facilitated by Head Coach Mentor Brian Kowalko, who will be part of the on ice instructor group that includes former pro Vic Gervais, who brings his vast knowledge of the game and nearly two decades of coaching experience to the group, former JDF Tier 1 coach and current Saanich Predator assistant coach, Trevor Lammie, as well as Brett Carpendale, who has been coaching with JDF for the past decade. The goalies will have direct instruction from our goalie mentor group featuring Jason Reimer and Kyle Harrison.

There are 12, 1-hour sessions for the Summer Battle Camp, and all ice times are at JDF Arena. There are 20 skater and 3 goalie spots available for each session, and the cost per session is $40.00. To register for the camp please follow this link – JDF 2026 Battle Camp Form.

Once the registration form is submitted, the JDFMHA Office Administrator will confirm your player’s registration and payment total. Completion of the registration form does not guarantee that space will be available.
