U18 Top and Bottom Groups (Rev 3, Updated September 1 @ 8:25am)

Hello once again U18 Players and Families

Tonight is the final Top Game for the U18s in our Rep Assessment process. As in the Bottom Game last night, the coaches and assessors have decided to expand the rosters for the final Top Game to ensure that players competing for our T1 and T2 teams have as much chance as possible to show what they can bring to the Admirals flagship teams.

Schedule Change: The assessors would like to have a full two hour game, and the coaches have requested to align the Top and Bottom practices. Accordingly, the previously scheduled practice prior to the top game tonight is cancelled. This also allows the most possible players to participate in practices now scheduled together on Wednesday. Please see the updated schedules on the website for game time tonight and practice on Wednesday.

Following the game tonight, rosters for the Top and Bottom Group practices will be posted. This also marks the point in the process where we may see some releases to our Rec program.

The level of competition for our U18 program continues to be impressive. Thanks again to all of the players for the great hockey – we all look forward to the game tonight. Good luck!

Good morning U18 Players and Families,

We’ve made it through the first weekend!

Today, the U18s only have a Bottom game on the schedule. As a result, in consultation with the coaches and based on the number of players assessing in this age group, we are expanding the rosters for today’s game. This will result in more players being assigned to the Bottom game than were earlier today. We will also be expanding rosters for the Top game on Tuesday.

Updated rosters are posted on the Schedules page as usual.

Accordingly, while there was no corresponding movement to the Top roster yesterday, players should expect to also see expanded Top rosters tonight. These rosters will result in a large number of players also being asked back out to the Top game on Tuesday after playing in the Bottom game tomorrow.

With the increased number of players on each team, we will aim to use the full two-hour ice slot both tonight and Tuesday night.

Thanks to all the players for their efforts so far, and parents and families for the dedication and support behind the scenes. The competition has resulted in some exciting hockey, and while it has been limited viewership so far it is something we can all look forward to for the coming season.

See you at the rink!

Good evening Admirals families,

We had a great start to the season today, and it was exciting to see the level of competition for our flagship U18 Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams!

The next step in Phase 1 of the rep assessments is the Top and Bottom Games. With the number of players assessing, we have enough players to build four strong teams noting that these will be below standard roster size. Accordingly, the players listed in the Bottom Groups need to be aware that they are still competing for roster positions on the T1 and T2 teams throughout the week. There is movement planned and already being discussed between the groups – be prepared to be moved up, and don’t be disappointed if moved down.

The Top and Bottom groups have been posted on the Schedules page.

The coaches and assessors are excited for this group, and looking forward to the games through the next phase.

Go Admirals.
