Awards

The Victoria Minor Hockey Association has a number individual awards including:

• The James Alexander Morin Memorial Award;
• The Bob Lindal VMHA Award of Merit ;
• The Coach of the Year;
• The Manager of the Year;
• The Most Improved Male / Female. 

New additions in 2013 were:

• The Spirit of Hockey Award, and;
• The Most Sportsmanlike Player Award.

The Lifetime Membership Award and the VMHA President’s Appreciation Award are presented as the occasion arises.
VMHA also participates in the Esso Minor Hockey Awards program.

James Alexander Morin Memorial Award
The James Alexander Morin Memorial Trophy carries the inscription "Most Dedicated to the Game". This trophy is presented annually honouring the player who best displays dedication, sportsmanship, enthusiasm and a genuine love for the game of hockey.

Bob Lindal VMHA Award of Merit
The Bob Lindal VMHA Award of Merit is open to any VMHA member, in good standing, and includes any parent, player, referee, team official, coach or executive member that makes an extraordinary contribution, to the Association, an individual, a team, or the game itself, or demonstrating exceptional qualities that are a positive example for others, both on and off the ice.

The Spirit of Hockey Award (2013)
Awarded annually to the Victoria Minor Hockey Association player or players who best exemplify the qualities of perseverance, resiliency and character. Players eligible to receive this award have had to overcome personal challenges during the season and have used the game hockey as a positive influence for themselves while upholding the game’s true spirit of camaraderie and competition.

The Most Sportsmanlike Player Award (2013)
This award is selected annually from the list of Esso Medal recipients acknowledging the same honour.  The player receiving this award will regarded as the VMHA player that best exemplifies the sportsmanship, attitude, and abilities that are essential qualities for the future success of individuals and athletes.
